HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Two pedestrians were critically injured after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in the 13000 block of Jones Road, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the location for a reported pedestrian crash involving two individuals. The striking vehicle left the scene before deputies arrived and has not been identified.
Both pedestrians were transported to a hospital in critical condition and were still being treated at the time of the briefing.
Investigators said the pedestrians are believed to be adult males. They do not appear to be homeless at this time. Preliminary information indicates the pedestrians were walking southbound along Jones Road, possibly on or just outside the shoulder near the number three lane. There is no sidewalk or marked crosswalk in the area.
Evidence at the scene suggests the striking vehicle may be silver in color. Deputies reported vehicle debris in the roadway consistent with that description.
Several witnesses reportedly observed the crash and contacted authorities. Investigators are working to obtain additional information, including possible surveillance video, as the investigation remains ongoing.
