Dr. Matthews calls for accountability after newly elected Congressman misses 8 House votes while campaigning

HOUSTON, TX – Dr. Candice Matthews held a press conference stating that newly elected Congressman Christian Menefee missed eight House roll call votes following the State of the Union address.

Dr. Matthews said information was provided to her by what she described as “political watchers” . She outlined multiple House roll call votes, including motions related to H.R. 6329, aviation safety legislation, and energy-related bills such as the Home Appliance Protection and Affordability Act and the Homeowners Energy Freedom Act.

According to Dr. Matthews, Menefee was listed among members who did not vote on several measures identified as roll calls 71 through 78, with varying totals of Democrats and Republicans recorded as not voting on those dates. She stated that voting records show Menefee was absent for eight votes.

Dr. Matthews said Menefee was in Houston campaigning during the time of the missed votes. She emphasized that her concern was not his absence from the State of the Union address, but rather his absence from recorded votes in the days that followed.

She called on Menefee to explain why he was not present to vote and stated that elected officials should be held accountable for fulfilling their duties in Congress.

The press conference concluded with Dr. Matthews stating she plans to continue monitoring and informing the community about elected officials’ voting records.
