HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Funplex, one of Texas’ largest indoor amusement centers and a fixture in the city’s Alief neighborhood for nearly 40 years, is closing its doors for good—this time not for fun, but for auction.

Auction Management Corporation (AMCbid), in partnership with ThreeSixty Asset Advisors, will oversee a two-day online auction on Sept. 24–25, 2025, liquidating the entire contents of the 200,000-square-foot indoor entertainment facility.
Originally opened as Fame City, the Funplex became a cornerstone of Houston’s entertainment scene, offering generations of families a space to roller skate, bowl, play arcade games, and more—at one point even serving as the backdrop for a Beyoncé music video. The upcoming auction represents not just commercial-grade assets, but a farewell to a nostalgic chapter in the city’s recreational history.
Items up for bid include:
- A forty-lane bowling alley
- Full roller skating rink
- Go-karts, VR simulators, and rides
- Ferris wheel, bungee trampolines, and a two-story PlayPort
- Arcade games, AV systems, and neon décor
- Sports bar, restaurant and concession equipment
“This auction has something for everyone—whether expanding an existing facility or collecting pieces of Houston history,” said Austin McRoberts of AMCbid.
Auction Schedule:
- Day 1 Bidding Ends: Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. CT
- Day 2 Bidding Ends: Thursday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. CT
- Preview (by appointment only): Sept. 22–23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
