Paxton, under Trump-era immigration order, arrests 35 undocumented immigrants across Texas

According to a statement from the Office of the Attorney General, these arrests were carried out by the agency’s Criminal Investigative Division in multiple metropolitan areas across Texas. The individuals were encountered, detained, and then processed for removal by ICE under federal immigration law.

This enforcement action stems from a Section 287(g) agreement signed in February, shortly after the start of President Donald Trump’s second term. The agreement authorizes trained personnel from the Texas Attorney General’s Office to perform certain immigration enforcement functions under the supervision of federal immigration authorities.

The recent arrests follow an executive order issued by President Trump directing DHS to expand state and local cooperation on immigration enforcement. Section 11 of that order calls for the use of 287(g) authority to deputize state law enforcement personnel to assist in federal immigration operations.

Texas officials say this latest effort marks a continuation of their immigration enforcement strategy in cooperation with federal agencies.
