HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A driver was killed after losing control and leaving the roadway along a freeway around 1 a.m. in the 17300 block of Crosby Freeway.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was traveling eastbound on the main lanes when, for an unknown reason, it failed to maintain a single lane and exited the roadway. The vehicle went down an embankment, flipped multiple times, and came to rest on the service road shoulder.
The driver, described as a Hispanic male in his 30s, was partially ejected and pronounced deceased by EMS. He was the only occupant, and no other vehicles are believed to be involved.
Investigators said it appeared the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Weather conditions included rain earlier in the night, and the roadway may have still been affected. It is not known at this time whether speed or alcohol played a role.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
This is a developing story and more information will follow if it becomes available.
