HOUSTON, TX – Dr. Matthews conducted a walkthrough at Sterling Point Apartments in southwest Houston, where residents raised multiple concerns about living conditions, including reports of rats, roaches, and structural issues.
At the complex located at 6601 Dunlap, multiple residents told Dr. Matthews that apartment management blamed rat activity on “mating season” when they reported infestations.
Several residents spoke about the conditions but declined to show their apartments. One woman said she was on her way to work and could not allow access, while two others also chose not to let cameras inside.
Residents also described additional concerns beyond pests, including maintenance issues, broken amenities, and overall property conditions observed during the walkthrough.
During the visit, the property manager stated he has been on-site for about two months and acknowledged there are existing issues, adding that he is working to address them through maintenance, pest control, and ongoing improvements.
When asked about the “mating season” statement, the manager said he does not believe his current employees would make that claim and suggested it may have come from a previous staff member.
