TEXAS — Federal, state and local law enforcement officials announced that Brooklyn Pace has been charged with murder in connection with the fentanyl poisoning death of 21-year-old Chase Boone.

According to officials, Boone was found in medical distress at a Super 8 motel in La Marque on Aug. 2, 2025. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Boone died at the scene.
Investigators later determined Boone’s death was caused by a fentanyl overdose. Following an extensive investigation involving local and federal law enforcement partners, Pace was identified as a suspect in the case.
Authorities said the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted a murder charge against Pace, and a $200,000 bond was set.
On May 21, 2026, the La Marque Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force executed an arrest warrant and took Pace into custody without incident.
During a press conference, officials said fentanyl continues to pose a significant threat to communities and warned about the dangers of taking medications that are not prescribed by a doctor or obtained from a licensed pharmacist.
Family members of Boone attended the announcement and spoke about the lasting impact of his death. Relatives described Boone as a kind and caring young man who is deeply missed by his family and friends.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and declined to discuss whether additional suspects may be involved.
