Driver killed after his Cadillac overturns and lands on top of him

HOUSTON — A driver was killed after losing control of a Cadillac SUV and overturning on the Northwest Freeway service road near the Fairbanks exit, just before 10 p.m. last night.

According to the Houston Police Department, the Cadillac was traveling at a high rate of speed in the 14300 block of the inbound Northwest Freeway service road when the driver lost control, struck a guardrail and overturned.

The Cadillac struck another vehicle during the crash. Police said the occupants of that vehicle reported minor injuries and were not believed to have contributed to the crash.

The Cadillac driver, identified only as a Hispanic man, was the vehicle’s sole occupant. Emergency crews were called to lift the SUV and recover him from underneath it.

Investigators said speed was a factor. It was not immediately known whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
