Dr. Matthews visits Sugar Land Church’s Chicken after customer says she was served rotten chicken

SUGAR LAND, TX — Dr. Matthews visited a Church’s Chicken restaurant at 10017 State Highway 6 after a customer claimed she was served rotten chicken.

The customer said she experienced diarrhea, stomach cramps and nausea before seeking treatment at an emergency room. Dr. Matthews presented the restaurant’s assistant manager with the customer’s receipt, food and medical paperwork.

Dr. Matthews also questioned why employees handling food did not appear to be wearing gloves. The assistant manager said she would notify the district manager and provide contact information for further follow-up.

A restaurant representative told Dr. Matthews that recording was not permitted on the private property. Dr. Matthews said the customer had contacted an attorney and planned to pursue legal action.

Church’s Chicken had not publicly responded to the claims.
