HOUSTON, TX — A man and his father were safely brought out of an apartment after a reported hostage situation earlier this morning.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to an open-line disturbance call around midnight in the 6600 block of De Moss Drive. The original disturbance reportedly began after the man received a text message.
The man barricaded himself inside a bathroom with his father after seeing officers. Police had information that he was armed, and he refused to comply with verbal commands.
The man’s mother was safely evacuated from the apartment. HPD’s SWAT and hostage negotiation teams responded, and the man and his father were brought out safely.
No injuries were reported.
