HOUSTON, Texas, Aug. 21, 2026 – A new email from political publisher Aubrey Taylor identifies former Harris County Justice of the Peace Israel Garcia, judicial candidate Jermaine Thomas and state Rep. Ron Reynolds as Taylor’s “top political clients,” renewing scrutiny of campaign funds allegedly paid to Aubrey R. Taylor Communications.

Taylor wrote that he planned to use what he called his “ground game strategy” to help the three candidates win their Nov. 3 races. The email also promoted their endorsements by Houston Business Connections Newspaper, which Taylor publishes.

Previous Houston Stringer reporting cited campaign-finance records showing candidates, officeholders and political organizations from both major parties reported more than $395,000 in payments to Aubrey R. Taylor Communications since 2015.
Public court records show Taylor has felony convictions in Texas, including a conviction for robbery causing bodily injury.

Questions have also been raised about the legal status of Aubrey R. Taylor Communications because the exact name was not identified as a separate entity in state registration records.
