KATY, TEXAS - Three individuals were shot and injured outside Katy Mills Mall on Saturday evening following an altercation, local police reported. The incident, which occurred just after 9:10 p.m., prompted a significant police response, with officers cordoning off the entire mall to conduct an investigation. On Saturday, November 18th, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Harris County Pct. 4 Constable's Office patrol units responded to a shooting at the Cashel Springs apartments, located at 14222 Wunderlich. They found 20-year-old Malachi Lopez with a gunshot wound. Lopez was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Tragically, the following morning, Malachi Lopez was pronounced deceased. The Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit has taken over the case, but as of now, no motive for the shooting has been determined, and no witnesses to the incident have been located. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Vivian Kefauver, aged 79, was found unresponsive on November 17, 2023, in Houston, Texas. She was pronounced deceased at a hospital with visible signs of trauma. Investigations later revealed that she was a victim of homicide, having suffered severe injuries related to strangulation. Her daughter and primary caretaker, Suzette Kefauver, aged 59, has been arrested and is in the Harris County Jail.
