Man fatally shot after fight at barbershop on Platt Drive

BATON ROUGE, LA – A 29-year-old man was fatally shot following a fight at a barbershop in the 9700 block of Platt Drive, police said. According to Baton Rouge Police, the incident occurred on October 15, 2025, at approximately 5:49 p.m. Homicide detectives learned that a dispute broke out between a patron and an employee at the business. The patron, later identified as Sylvester Bouligny III, reportedly left the shop and returned with two other Black males. The group confronted the employee, and a physical altercation ensued. During the fight, the two accompanying males allegedly opened fire, striking 29-year-old Marvin Tolliver, who police say was not involved in the altercation. PEORIA COUNTY, IL – A 32-year-old man was struck and killed by vehicles while walking in the roadway on Thursday night, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the intersection of Airport Road and Monroe Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. on October 16, 2025, and located the man deceased in the roadway. Investigators believe he was struck by at least one, possibly multiple vehicles. Two vehicles that hit the man stopped at a nearby gas station and contacted 911. Former Swifton officer arrested on arson charge following house fire

SWIFTON, AR – Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested a former Swifton police officer in connection with a house fire reported earlier this year. File Photo (October 2025) Benjamin Drake Slagley, 30, was arrested on October 13, 2025, and charged with one count of arson. The arrest stems from an August 30 fire at Slagley’s residence in Swifton, which he reported to 911 while still employed as an officer. Following the incident, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of ASP CID. Slagley has since resigned from his position with the Swifton Police Department. He was taken into custody and booked into the Jackson County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was driving a 2020 Chevy Blazer northbound on County Highway I when her vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound 2005 Sterling dump truck.
