HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A mother has been arrested and charged with murder following the July death of her nine-year-old daughter who was left inside a parked vehicle in Galena Park. File Photo (April 2025) According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, on July 1, 2025, at approximately 2:06 p.m., Galena Park Police officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Mayo Shell Road after receiving a call about an unresponsive child in a vehicle. Officers arrived at approximately 2:18 p.m. and found the child unresponsive, with CPR in progress. The child was transported by ambulance to LBJ Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Mitchell, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 174th and 230th Criminal District Courts. Mitchell was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
