The officer was detaining the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle when another vehicle approached on the shoulder without slowing down and struck the rear door of the patrol car. The westbound driver initially believed they had struck an unknown object. When police arrived, they discovered the object was a deceased male pedestrian. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication during evaluation. The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been confirmed but he is believed to possibly be a Hispanic male. Houston Fire Department crews arrived within minutes and encountered heavy flames coming from two floors, with fire visible from both the front and side of the unit. A fast attack was initiated, and a primary search revealed no occupants. A 21-year-old female had been shot in the leg, and a 19-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. Both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. HOUSTON, TX – A Houston Fire Department firefighter was reportedly assaulted by an arson suspect while responding to a trash fire behind a Dollar General. Officers and EMS personnel arrived to find an adult male deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Preliminary information indicates the residents of the home had invited coworkers over for a gathering that involved alcohol. During the event, an incident occurred between the deceased and one of the residents, which led the resident to produce a firearm and shoot the man.
