The officer was detaining the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle when another vehicle approached on the shoulder without slowing down and struck the rear door of the patrol car. The officer dove into the vehicle to avoid a direct hit but was struck in the leg. The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
