Initial reports suggested a possible person trapped inside, leading firefighters to begin an aggressive offensive attack. Officers say the man refused to come out despite repeated verbal commands. SWAT responded and surrounded the home for several hours. The suspect did not comply with officers’ verbal commands to exit the residence. Water was seen flowing along Fannin Street from Prairie down to the intersection at Preston. The extent of the damage and the cause of the flooding have not yet been confirmed.

Police said the woman was outside her vehicle when she was hit by another vehicle. The suspect vehicle reportedly fled the scene. No additional details have been released at this time. According to police, the child ran into the parking lot roadway area while playing with a sibling as a family member was unloading groceries. Her brother, who was reportedly unaware she was behind the truck, began backing up and struck her. Family members immediately stopped the vehicle, rendered aid, and called 911. Houston Fire Department medics transported the child to Texas Children’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
