Juvenile arrested in shooting near LSU campus

BATON ROUGE, LA – Detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department’s Major Assaults Division have arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with a shooting that occurred on October 11 near Louisiana State University’s campus. The incident took place on Highland Road near LSU. The juvenile now faces multiple charges, including two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder, Illegal Use of a Weapon, Illegal Possession of a Weapon by a Juvenile, and Carrying a Firearm on School Property. Police credited information from the Baton Rouge community and Capital Region Crime Stoppers for leading to the suspect’s arrest. The case remains under investigation.

SHREVEPORT, LA – Shreveport Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person responsible for the shooting death of 17-year-old Cameron Ballentine. Just after midnight on August 31, 2025, officers were dispatched to a shooting at 3384 Bond Street. When they arrived, they found Cameron suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health, where he later died despite life-saving efforts by medical staff. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Police say the incident occurred around 1:10 p.m. Surveillance footage captured the suspect’s actions inside the store, and investigators have released still images to assist with identification. Teen fatally shot in Algiers, New Orleans Police investigating

NEW ORLEANS, LA – New Orleans Police are investigating a homicide after a teenage male was found shot to death in Algiers on October 6, 2025. According to investigators, officers responded to the 3700 block of Texas Drive shortly after 8 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Fourth District officers found the victim on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. New Orleans EMS pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death after notifying next of kin and conducting an autopsy.
