Man grazed by rifle round in forehead in Houston

On March 17, 2023, a man was hospitalized after being grazed by a bullet in the forehead in Houston's Fifth Ward. The incident occurred at around 11 p.m. on Coke Street when two masked gunmen carrying rifles opened fire at an apartment complex. The man is expected to survive. Police are uncertain of the motive behind the shooting and whether the victim was the intended target. Anyone with information is urged to contact HPD's Major Assaults Division.

Houston Police looking for man charged with capital murder for killing a 65 year old woman on Valentine’s Day

A suspect has been charged in relation to the fatal shooting of a woman at 874 Yorkchester Drive on February 14th. The suspect, 17-year-old Owen Leonardo Vilanova-Ardon, has been charged with capital murder in the 337th State District Court. He is accused of being involved in the killing of Judy Walters, 65. According to HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Vinogradov and D. Crowder, HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex on Yorkchester Drive and found Ms. Walters suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Investigators discovered that at least two suspects, described only as young males with medium complexions and wearing black bandanas, shot Walters and pulled her out of her vehicle. Deadrian Aundre Baker, aged 33, has been arrested and charged with murder and two counts of intoxication assault in connection with a fatal crash that occurred at 8400 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) on Sunday, March 12 at around 10:35 p.m. The victim's identity, a female juvenile aged 1, is yet to be verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The stabbing of three men that occurred on March 11 at 11:25 pm at 7575 Plum Creek Drive has resulted in charges being filed against the suspect, Raymundo Velasquez Ruiz, 58. He is facing three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 230th State District Court. Six alleged members of the 100% Third Ward (103) Gang have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Houston on charges of aiding and abetting the use of a firearm to commit murder in aid of racketeering. The defendants are Shaquile O’Neal Richards, Alexandra Elizabeth Nicks, Deandre Watson, Marcus Dewane Christopher, Marquis Juwan Erskin and Mertroy Harris. The defendants are accused of involvement in a murder that occurred on London Street in the Third Ward in Houston in October 2017. Man charged with murder after shooting another man and leaving him on a roadway to die in Fort Bend County

Brian Bush, 45, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of Earl Green, 41, on February 28 at 16099 Blue Ridge Road. The charges were filed in the 458th District Court in Fort Bend County. Brian Bush - Courtesy of HPD Upon responding to the incident, HPD patrol officers found Green unresponsive in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of Houston Fire Department paramedics, Green was pronounced dead at the scene. After conducting further investigations, Bush was identified as the suspect in the case. He was arrested on March 6 on an unrelated felony warrant, and subsequently charged for his involvement in Green's murder after consultation with homicide detectives and the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office.
