Video: Husband sets fire to wife’s home

January 3, 2023 - The man who has been identified as Pablo Patino set fire to his wife's family home after setting the home on fire. [videopack id="3917"]https://www.houstonstringer.com/wp-content/uploads/1673/69/Mortimer-Fire-.mov[/videopack] The fire started around 3:30 a.m. on Mortimer Drive in northwest Houston.  His wife, stepdaughter, and several of their family members were inside the home at the time. Police ended up arresting Patino after a standoff that ended when Patino set his own home on fire and climbed out of a window.

January 7, 2023 - A man was shot in the torso while driving down Navigation in east Houston around 2:30 a.m. [videopack id="3901"]https://www.houstonstringer.com/wp-content/uploads/1673/65/Navigation-Shooting_Final.mov[/videopack] According to police, the man said that a "cream-colored" Chevy truck with several individuals inside of it shot at him before making a U-Turn and fleeing the scene. The man also told police that he might have been racing the truck but he didn't know if he was or was not the intended target. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

January 5, 2023 - According to a press release by the Montgomery County Sheriff's office, multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating a fatality crash that occurred during a high-speed chase in the 13400 block of Rogers Rd in Willis, TX around 8:30 p.m. Police say they responded to a report of family violence in progress on Frontier Drive in Willis, TX around 8:10 p.m. While deputies were on their way, they received information that the woman left the scene of the family violence call and was able to locate a vehicle that matched the description of the woman's vehicle. Three year old dies after being hit by drunk driver who fled the scene

A man is facing multiple charges, including intoxication manslaughter after a three year old who was on life support overnight passed away at the hospital. Rosendo Gaeta, 35, was found after Constables with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 canvassed the area and found him. According to officers, Gaeta was showing multiple signs of intoxication when officers arrested him. According to Constable Mark Herman, the child passed away at a local hospital at 12:41 p.m. on January 5, 2023. Gaeta remains in the Harris County jail and his bond has not yet been set.

Houston car dealership being sued after intoxicated employee fatally struck a father walking across the street in its pickup truck

A local car dealership is being sued after it allowed one of its employees to borrow a truck and drive it home. That employee ended up hitting and killing a pedestrian, just blocks away from the car dealership. According to a media statement from the Houston Police Department at the time, the accident occurred on December 30, 2020, in the 9900 block of South Main Street around 6:25 p.m. Silvestre Acevedo, who was 63 years old at the time stuck a pedestrian, later identified as James LeDoux while driving a Ford F-150 pickup. LeDoux was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased. Acevedo, did remain at the scene and it was determined that he was intoxicated at the time. A house caught on fire overnight in the Rivergrove Subdivision in Atascocita, Texas

December 29, 2022 - The Atascocita Fire Department responded to a report of a fire located on Kings Timber Trail in the Rivergrove Subdivision near Meyergrove Lane in Atascocita, TX. According to the Atascocita Fire Department, first responders were dispatched around 12:45 a.m. to a report of a structure fire. The fire was extinguished around 1:05 a.m. There were no reports of injuries.

Man arrested after deadly shooting in store parking lot after anonymous tipster comes forward

A man has now been arrested and is in custody after shooting another man multiple times in the parking lot of a convenience store in broad daylight late last week after an argument. Around 2:10 p.m., on December 23, 2022, police responded to a report of a shooting outside King Discount Store located at 4131 Bennington in north Houston. Police then found the victim, Dontray Darnel Jefferson (34) suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced Jefferson deceased at the scene. According to court documents, detectives were able to observe on surveillance video that the suspect, physically assaulting Jefferson. A Houston area church is being sued by a mother who alleges officials at the church tried to cover up the sexual abuse of minors by a Youth Pastor. The church, Champion Forest Baptist church is part of the Southern Baptist Convention, which the lawsuit alleges has a history of covering up abuse in its ranks. One of their ex-youth pastors even pleaded guilty to sexual abuse and sexual assault allegations back in 2018. “Beer cans everywhere” – Witness describes the scene of an accident that left an SUV on a guardrail on the Eastex Freeway

December 23, 2022 - A witness sent this photo in of a Ford Expedition that had crashed out and ended up a guardrail in north Houston on the Eastex Freeway at the E Mount Houston exit Friday evening. While no official cause has been given regarding the accident, the witness who sent this photo in stated that there were "beer cans everywhere".
