Dayton police stated the monks were walking on the shoulder with a vehicle following behind them with its hazard lights on when a truck hit the vehicle, forcing it into the monks. Two monks were taken to a hospital. One was flown by helicopter with serious lower-body injuries, and the second was transported by ambulance with minor injuries.
