Large metal recycling pile fire prompts shelter-in-place in Dayton

DAYTON, TX – A large fire at the Omni Recycling Center prompted a shelter-in-place order after a massive pile of shredded household metal products ignited, officials said. https://youtu.be/Mc3_mPK2zhs Nathan Green with the Liberty County Fire Marshal's Office said the fire was discovered around 6:30 p.m. in a pile described as roughly the size of a football field and originally about 45 to 50 feet tall. Two Buddhist monks injured during major accident in Texas

DAYTON, TX – Life Flight was called after a vehicle was struck by a truck on US-90 and pushed into two Buddhist monks who are part of a group walking across the country on a peace walk. https://youtu.be/9CayQ1JT_KQ The incident occurred on U.S. 90 near Wolfe Island Road just north of 99. Dayton police stated the monks were walking on the shoulder with a vehicle following behind them with its hazard lights on when a truck hit the vehicle, forcing it into the monks. Two monks were taken to a hospital. One was flown by helicopter with serious lower-body injuries, and the second was transported by ambulance with minor injuries.
