Aransas 4010 Fire contained after burning 54 acres near Cape Valero

ARANSAS COUNTY, TX – The Rockport Volunteer Fire Department, alongside multiple mutual aid partners, responded to the Aransas 4010 Fire near Cape Valero on August 22, 2025. The fire burned approximately 54 acres of wetlands and heavy brush before being fully contained. No homes or structures were lost or damaged, though firefighters reported several were threatened and defended successfully. Agencies assisting included Rockport VFD, Fulton VFD, Lamar VFD, Aransas Pass VFD, Ingleside VFD, Bayside VFD, and Refugio VFD. Rockport VFD extended thanks to its neighboring departments for their teamwork and dedication. The suspects were wearing bulletproof vests, masks, and badges around their necks when they fired shots through the front door at the caller. The homeowners returned fire, striking both suspects. HOUSTON, TX – Charges have been filed against a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man found in the 11400 block of South Drive about 8:25 p.m. on May 4. The suspect, Jessy Saba, 41, is charged with murder in the 482nd State District Court. He was taken into custody by the Huntsville Police Department on August 12 and later booked into the Harris County Jail on August 19. The victim has been identified as Merlin Alberto, 27.
