The driver fled southbound at a high rate of speed, running multiple red lights as the deputy pursued. At the intersection of Elgin and Smith, the F-150 ran a red light and collided with a white Lexus traveling eastbound. The Lexus spun out, struck a building, and caught fire. According to Houston police, the victim was struck in the buttocks and transported in non-critical condition to a nearby hospital. Police said the victim was uncooperative and did not provide information about how the shooting occurred or who may have been responsible.

Initial reports suggested a possible person trapped inside, leading firefighters to begin an aggressive offensive attack. While performing ventilation work on the roof, a firefighter from Station 28 was injured while coming down and a mayday was called. The mayday automatically triggered a second-alarm response, bringing an estimated 50 to 70 personnel to the scene. Officers say the man refused to come out despite repeated verbal commands. SWAT responded and surrounded the home for several hours. HOUSTON, TX – A standoff involving an armed suspect prompted a SWAT response early Sunday morning in the 12900 block of Claygate in south Houston. https://youtu.be/2rIG5KN5HSo Houston Police were initially called around 1 a.m. regarding a possible suicidal individual reportedly armed. The suspect did not comply with officers’ verbal commands to exit the residence.
