Video: Homeless woman shot in a drive-by shooting in west Houston

Houston Police are looking for a Hispanic male in a red Chevy Silverado they believe to be responsible for the shooting of a homeless woman next to a washeteria in Houston.

The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. when the Houston Fire Department and the Houston Police Department responded to a call about a shooting in the 9500 block of Beechnut near Corporate Dr.

As firefighters arrived, they found a homeless woman sitting on the side of “The Speed Washateria” that had suffered a gunshot wound. Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department treated her on the scene, then rushed her to a local hospital where she is said to be in stable condition.

According to police, a Hispanic male, described as being in his twenties pulled up in a red Chevy Silverado and fire one shot, which struck the woman. The suspect male then fled the scene.

Police do not have a motive at this time and are working to determine why the man decided to open fire. There were two other transients that appeared to be with the woman during the shooting and were there when firefighters arrived. They were not injured during the shooting. One of the transients, a woman left the scene shortly after the woman was transported to a local hospital. The other, a male stayed behind and appeared to be cooperating with the police.
