MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Dr. Candice Matthews and Quanell X spoke outside a Montgomery County courtroom following the first court appearance of Victor Paillet, 40, known on social media as “Kandy Red Bread,” who is accused in a case involving a 2-year-old child.
Paillet was arrested on Jan. 16 and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a child and promotion of child pornography.
Dr. Matthews stated the defendant appeared in court and attempted to conceal his face. She said it is unacceptable that a 2-year-old child was allegedly violated and said she hopes the child receives justice. She confirmed the next court date is set for March 11 at 1:30 p.m., and said supporters plan to attend.
Quanell X urged the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office to lobby the Texas Legislature to change state law to make individuals eligible for the death penalty if convicted of sexually assaulting a child. He stated such a change would require legislative action and passage by the Texas Legislature.
Both speakers expressed confidence in Montgomery County prosecutors to pursue the case. Dr. Matthews stated they are in communication with the district attorney’s office regarding case updates and developments and said the community would be informed as information becomes available.
Quanell X also said he believes investigators should determine whether there may be additional victims and examine where any alleged recordings may have been distributed. He encouraged any parents who believe their child may have had contact with Paillet in a private setting to contact the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
