One killed, two injured at parking lot gathering next to ‘Club Chevron’

HOUSTON, TX — One man was killed and two others were injured after gunfire erupted at a shopping center parking lot next to a Chevron gas station earlier this morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded around 4 a.m. to the 13300 block of Cullen Boulevard. Hundreds of people were gathered in the parking lot. Locals refer to the general gathering area as “Club Chevron.”

A verbal altercation became physical before a suspect began firing into the crowd. Multiple people in the crowd returned fire.

Officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department personnel transported both men to a hospital, where one was pronounced deceased.

A third man arrived at a hospital in a private vehicle. His injuries and condition were unknown.

One of the surviving victims reportedly fired at the initial suspect and was shot during the exchange. Investigators do not believe the surviving victim struck the suspect.

Police said the suspect ran across the street toward another parking lot and was not in custody.
