The effort, which began late last week, is being led by the Texas Department of Public Safety in collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation, Texas State Guard, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

According to the Governor’s Office, the operation has resulted in the removal of 48 encampments and over 3,000 pounds of debris. Authorities have also arrested 24 repeat felony offenders and seized more than 125 grams of narcotics.

Ten individuals were found to have outstanding warrants, with several listed as armed, dangerous, and exhibiting violent behavior. One person was wanted out of state for aggravated escape from custody.

Governor Abbott said the action is intended to reduce public safety risks by removing weapons, drug paraphernalia, and hazardous materials from areas in and around the capital and state-owned property.
