HOUSTON, TX – A man has been charged with murder after investigators found his DNA on a Croc sandal left behind at a murder scene in Midtown.
According to the Houston Police Department, a man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Julian Comeaux and the wounding of another man in Midtown earlier this year.
The shooting occurred around 1:05 a.m. on February 16 in the 300 block of Hadley Street. Police said Comeaux, 21, and a 24-year-old male were with a group of friends when they confronted a man allegedly breaking into one of their vehicles. The suspect opened fire, striking both men, then fled the scene.
Comeaux was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
According to KHOU, investigators identified 38-year-old Tristin Terrel Williams as the suspect after a Croc sandal left near Comeaux’s body tested positive for Williams’ DNA. Witnesses also identified Williams as the shooter after being shown a photo lineup. Officers recovered two guns from his attic, and witnesses also stated they saw Comeaux jump on Williams before the shooting.
Court records also show he has a lengthy criminal history in Harris County dating back to 2004, including prior charges for drug possession, burglary of a vehicle, unlawful carrying of a weapon, theft, and attempted possession of a firearm by a felon. Several of the earlier cases were dismissed, while others resulted in convictions or were otherwise disposed.
Williams has been charged with murder in the 174th Criminal District Court and was arrested yesterday afternoon. His bond was set at $200,000, and he remains in jail.
