Anthony was recently sentenced to 35 years in prison after being convicted of murder in the 2025 stabbing death of Austin Metcalf during a high school track meet in Frisco.

During the press conference, Dr. Matthews encouraged community members to pay closer attention to local elections and the officials they elect, arguing that voting decisions can have long-term impacts on the justice system and family court matters.

Dr. Matthews also referenced a federal lawsuit previously filed against Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis that was later settled. While discussing allegations contained in the court filing, she called for greater public scrutiny of elected officials and their conduct.

Additionally, Dr. Matthews criticized Judge John Roach Jr., citing information from a third-party website that tracks allegations and complaints involving judges. She questioned the role of elected judges and prosecutors in shaping outcomes within the legal system.

Throughout the event, Dr. Matthews repeatedly emphasized voter participation, urging supporters to become more informed about candidates seeking public office and to remain involved in local elections as Anthony’s case moves forward through the appellate process.

The remarks were made during a press conference focused on Anthony’s conviction, sentencing and broader concerns about judicial accountability in Collin County.
