Counterfeit Labubu dolls dubbed “Lafufu” by fans appear on Hollywood Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA – Shoppers and collectors are being cautioned after fake Labubu dolls—nicknamed “Lafufu” by fans—were spotted for sale by street vendors on Hollywood Boulevard.
The counterfeit figures closely resemble the original Labubu collectibles designed by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung and distributed through Pop Mart, but lack proper branding, packaging, and serial identifiers. Vendors are reportedly selling them near popular tourist sites, including the Dolby Theatre and El Capitan.
The term “Lafufu” has emerged among fans as a tongue-in-cheek nickname for the knockoff versions, which are often sold at prices significantly below the market rate for authentic figures.
