Elderly man critically injured after e-bike collision in Simi Valley

SIMI VALLEY, CA – A man was critically injured after his electric bike collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Sequoia Avenue and Darby Street. The crash occurred around 12:08 p.m. on October 25, 2025. According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the rider, identified as 84-year-old Janes Nownes, was transported to Los Robles Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Preliminary findings indicate that Nownes swerved into the path of a northbound vehicle on Sequoia Avenue, striking the side of the car and being thrown from the e-bike. The vehicle sustained minor damage. Officer Daniel Muoio is leading the investigation. Police stated they have a good identification on the suspects, though no descriptions are being released at this time. The Major Assaults Division has been notified and is conducting the investigation.
