Firefighters respond to rescue call at airport radar tower near IAH

Man killed in Cass County crash after crossing centerline and striking truck trailer

CASS COUNTY, MI – A 42-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday evening near the intersection of US-12 and M-217 in Porter Township, according to Sheriff Clint Roach. The Cass County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene at approximately 6:02 p.m. on October 27, 2025. The investigation determined that James Hettmansperger of Vandalia was driving a Jeep Liberty eastbound on US-12 when he lost control, crossed the centerline, and struck the rear end of a westbound GMC Sierra pickup and trailer. The Department of Justice announced today that a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of California returned a six-count indictment charging Tony Christopher Long, 19, of Porterville, California, with two counts of animal crushing, sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor, cyberstalking, and transmitting an interstate threat. Long, also known by the online aliases Inactive, Inactivee0 and inactivecvx, is currently in state custody on related charges, officials said. HPD releases photos of suspect in fatal shooting of John Crockett, asks for public’s help

HOUSTON, TX – Police are looking for a suspect captured on surveillance footage in connection with the fatal shooting of John Crockett in southeast Houston. The shooting occurred around 10:45 a.m. on October 22 in the 7900 block of Comal Street. Officers responded to the scene and found Crockett, 54, with gunshot wounds inside a crashed vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators say Crockett was driving when the suspect approached, made contact, and then shot him. The suspect fled on foot heading southbound, and the vehicle collided with a telephone pole. Court sentences Talib Smith to 25 years for carjacking, kidnapping, and dumping elderly woman in Houston bayou

HOUSTON, TX – Talib Smith has been sentenced to 300 months in federal prison for kidnapping, carjacking, and assaulting an elderly woman at her southwest Houston home in May 2023 before dumping her into a bayou. Court records show Smith grabbed the woman, tied her hands and ankles, shoved clothing into her mouth, and demanded money and car keys. Smith then placed her in the trunk of her car and drove off, later dumping her into a Houston bayou. The woman, who was over 65 years old, managed to climb out of the water and ran to a nearby apartment for help. The case was investigated by the Houston Police Department and federal authorities.

Witnesses saw person walking away before trailer fire that left one dead in Amarillo

AMARILLO, TX – A suspicious death is under investigation after a trailer fire was reported early Monday morning near NW 5th and Lamar. File Photo (October 2025) At approximately 4:53 a.m., officers responded to the scene where an RV trailer was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews extinguished the blaze, and a deceased individual was discovered inside the trailer. Witnesses reported seeing a person walking away from the area shortly before smoke became visible, prompting the 911 call. Fire Marshals, homicide investigators, and crime scene units responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
