The vehicle came to a stop with two occupants inside. The male driver got out of his disabled vehicle and was standing beside it in the number two lane when a Chevrolet truck traveling in the same lane was unable to avoid him after another vehicle swerved. The driver of the Dodge Durango was struck and pronounced deceased at the scene. She was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. Police determined that the victim and the suspect are engaged and in a dating relationship. The woman was asleep in her bed when the suspect arrived and shot her twice while she was sleeping. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident. He was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police said the victim and the suspect were in a vacant field when an altercation occurred. During the scuffle, the suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim at least twice. The suspect fled the scene and remains unidentified at this time. Officers were actively searching the area and conducting surveillance. The HPD Major Assaults Division is leading the investigation.

HOUSTON, TX – A 19-year-old driver was arrested after leading Harris County Constable Precinct 2 deputies on a high-speed pursuit spanning more than 30 miles before crashing into a home in southeast Houston. According to Constable Jerry Garcia, the pursuit began when Night Shift deputies observed a vehicle run a red light and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Jonathan Garcia-Salazar, refused to stop, leading deputies on a 30-minute chase. The pursuit ended when Garcia-Salazar crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle and a residence. No one inside the home was injured.
