Man shot on Kirk Street in Fifth Ward dies at hospital

First responders called after man in distress climbed on top of an apartment roof in NW Houston

HOUSTON, TX - A man decided to climb on an apartment complex roof Monday morning and refused to come down. It was captured on the Citizen app. The Houston Fire Department and the Houston Police Department were both called to the Somerset Apartments located on Tidwell around 10:30 a.m. After about an hour and a half of talking to first responders, the man finally came down on his own free will onto a balcony and entered an apartment residence. At this time it is not known why he climbed on the roof in the first place. You can watch the full video on the Citizen app, including the moment he climbed down.

Cyclist fatally struck by car on FM 1960

HARRIS COUNTY, TX - A cyclist was fatally struck by a car this morning. https://youtu.be/1wwFap0_cjc The accident occurred around 4:50 a.m. in the 8900 block of FM 1960 Rd W. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on FM 1960 when he struck the cyclist from the rear. The impact caused the cyclist to separate from his bicycle, hit the car's windshield before landing on the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver remained on the scene was determined not to be intoxicated.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies originally responded to a report of an auto vs pedestrian accident at the complex. When they arrived they found a man about 40 years old who had sustained gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS. At this time, it is not known what led up to the shooting but several witnesses told deputies that two black males wearing all dark clothing were running from the vehicle the victim was in. The victim stated that he will get them $20, went back to the apartments nearby and came back with a pistol. He then pointed the pistol at the suspects but did not pull the trigger. The suspects opened fire and shot him before fleeing on foot, headed west on Elm Street. Police do not have anyone in custody but one officer was able to identify one of the suspects. Man found deceased in main lanes of the Southwest Freeway

HOUSTON, TX - A man was found dead after being found in the main lanes of the Southwest Freeway Friday night. The man was found around 10:30 p.m. Friday night on the inbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway just before the Bissonnet exit. According to police, they are not sure if he was struck or ran over by a vehicle but they did say that there were no vehicles connected to the crash that remained at the scene. The crash is still under investigation and police urge the public to contact them if they know anything about the crash.
