Upon arrival, officers met with a security guard who reported that workers at the establishment told him a male was refusing to exit the bathroom. The security guard escorted the male outside, where a verbal altercation began. According to the security guard, the male was accompanied by six or seven friends who began to attack him. Elderly woman dies from smoke inhalation during fire at Houston nursing home

HOUSTON, TX – An elderly female resident of the West Janisch Health Care Center died from smoke inhalation early Sunday morning. https://youtu.be/Zcsx_pS-lo4 The fire was reported around 1:33 a.m. at the facility located at 617 Janisch in the Independence Heights area. According to the Houston Fire Department, HFD Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire. Other residents of the nursing home were allowed to return inside after the incident. Motorcyclist killed while racing on Westheimer

HOUSTON, TX – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Westheimer earlier this morning. https://youtu.be/zxNKvFOPBxg The fatal crash happened around 2 a.m. in the 5600 block of Westheimer. Witnesses told police the motorcyclist was racing at a high rate of speed with other vehicles before losing control at a curb and crashing. No other vehicles appear to have been involved in the crash. Investigators are working to determine the direct causes of the incident. The motorcyclist has not yet been identified. AUSTIN, TX – A woman has been arrested after a newborn baby was found alive in a dumpster in North Austin. According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded to a welfare check around 1:37 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the 8600 block of N Lamar Boulevard. The call reported that an infant had been discovered inside a dumpster. Austin-Travis County EMS arrived shortly after and transported the baby to a nearby hospital. Police said the infant is doing better and remains hospitalized for evaluation. Man charged after allegedly killing friend during ‘quick-draw’ game in north Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A man has been charged with murder following the shooting death of a 22-year-old during a reported game of “quick-draw” in north Harris County. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Jaret Garcia, 20, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Trin Thuyen. Garcia was booked into the Harris County Jail following the incident. Deputies with Precinct 4 Constable's Office responded to a shooting in the 14300 block of Darrah Drive on September 25, 2025. Upon arrival, they found Trin Thuyen deceased at the scene. Sheriff Gonzalez stated the two men were reportedly playing a game of “quick-draw,” pointing semi-automatic handguns at each other, when Garcia allegedly fired, fatally striking Thuyen. HOUSTON, TX – A suspect has been charged with capital murder in connection with a 2021 fatal shooting and vehicle theft outside a southwest Houston apartment complex. Shannon Washington, 46, was charged in the 232nd Criminal District Court on September 25. He is currently in custody with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) on an unrelated charge. A 2022 booking photo of Washington was released with the announcement. The victim, 28-year-old Dave Stephens, was shot and killed around 3:40 a.m. on April 18, 2021, in the 2900 block of South Gessner Road.
