Oct. 7, 2023 – Houston police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at 10100 East Freeway (East Interstate 10) around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to a report by the Houston Police Department (HPD) Vehicular Crimes Division, the driver of a Dodge Durango was merging onto the East Freeway main lanes when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking on the main lanes.
Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced the male pedestrian deceased.
The driver of the Dodge Durango, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was subsequently questioned and released.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
