Woman accused of shooting boyfriend multiple times after luring him out into woods out on reduced bond

Disclaimer: The following account is an as-told story from the victim’s sister, shared to provide insight into the events and clarified for understanding.

HOUSTON, TX – On September 5, 2024, Alexys Pinto became angry with my brother after a client dropped off a truck for him to repair. In her frustration, she attempted to put her hands on Elvis. My brother, remaining composed, gently grasped her hands and pulled her into a hug, believing he had calmed her emotions.

Despite this, Pinto suddenly insisted Elvis drive her to a specific location. About a week earlier, she had pointed out the spot as a beautiful place to enjoy the sunset. Upon arriving, Pinto ran from the vehicle. Elvis followed, calling after her. When he caught up, they briefly spoke before Pinto unexpectedly asked about deer hunting. Confused, my brother dismissed the question as they were in a wooded area without deer. While he was momentarily distracted, Pinto shot him multiple times, hitting his chest and abdomen. Shocked and bleeding heavily, Elvis ran toward the truck, holding his wounds. Pinto attempted to shoot him in the back, hitting his left hand instead. Despite falling several times, he prayed and prepared for what seemed inevitable.

As he lay on the ground, Pinto aimed the gun at his head. When she pulled the trigger, my brother deflected the shot with his right hand, which was hit, and the bullet grazed his head. Out of bullets, Pinto grew frustrated, telling him, “You shouldn’t be alive right now, baby. I’m sorry, baby, I shot you in the wrong places.” My brother begged for his life, pleading with her to call for help. Pinto eventually drove him to a gas station instead of a hospital, asking the clerk to call an ambulance. As my brother applied pressure to his wounds, Pinto appeared to help but focused more on creating an impression of assisting than offering real aid. She also rummaged through his pockets and the vehicle.

When EMTs arrived, they immediately transported Elvis to the hospital. Houston Police (HPD) later detained Pinto for questioning, but she invoked her right to remain silent and was released to her father’s custody.

At the hospital, my father was notified of the shooting after my brother provided his name and our father’s phone number, despite his critical condition. Elvis was admitted as “Unknown V. Babyblue” due to a lack of identification. The family endured a harrowing wait as he underwent emergency surgery. When we finally saw him, he was unconscious, on a ventilator, and fighting for his life after sustaining severe injuries, including multiple gunshot wounds, a punctured lung, a splenectomy, damage to his diaphragm, intestines, and other major organs. Over the following month, he endured numerous procedures, including hand surgeries and counseling, as he struggled with physical and mental challenges.

Pinto was arrested 15 days after the incident. During her third court hearing on November 14, 2024, her family pleaded for a bond reduction, which was granted by the judge, lowering it from $75,000 to $10,000. Pinto was released to her father the following day. On the same day, my brother underwent surgery to remove the final bullet that had been lodged in his back for months.
