LIVINGSTON, TX – Officers with the Livingston Police Department executed a multi-stage drug enforcement operation early Thursday morning that resulted in three arrests and the seizure of nearly a pound of methamphetamine.
According to the Livingston Police Department, officers from multiple shifts and divisions first initiated a traffic stop around 1 a.m. on Highway 190 West. K9 Bear alerted on the suspect vehicle, prompting a search. Multiple baggies of methamphetamine were discovered inside a hidden compartment in the backseat. The driver, identified as 61-year-old John Way, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance. A female passenger was also arrested for outstanding warrants related to a local theft case.
Following the stop, a search warrant was executed just after 2 a.m. at Way’s residence on Castlewood Road. Patrol and Criminal Investigations Division officers located additional narcotics inside the home, including methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. Two male residents, identified as Kyle Way, 29, and William Stewart, 50, were arrested and charged with Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
All three men, described by police as convicted felons with extensive criminal records, were transported to the Polk County Jail. Authorities stated the investigation remains active and further arrests or charges may follow.
Chief Parrish commended the team’s efforts, stating, “We got drug dealers off the streets today and kept a pound of meth from poisoning our community. This was all made possible by using a combination of modern technology and good old fashioned police work.”
