Dr. Matthews urges politicians to stop paying political operative Aubrey Taylor

HOUSTON – During a press conference earlier today, Dr. Matthews accused political operative Aubrey Taylor of publishing false information about her and announced that her attorneys recently sent him a cease-and-desist letter.

She also claimed a previous settlement agreement between the two had been violated and alleged that a blog containing statements about her was removed after she challenged its accuracy.

Dr. Matthews displayed documents she described as public records and alleged Taylor has a criminal history that includes prior theft, robbery and other court cases. She further alleged Taylor has been the subject of protective orders, child support enforcement actions and other legal proceedings. She also referenced a toll road citation that she said Taylor received for allegedly operating a vehicle on a toll road when prohibited.

The press conference comes one day after Dr. Matthews alleged that Judge Curvey improperly used campaign funds to hire Aubrey Taylor Communications for $7,750. Dr. Matthews claimed the payments were made shortly after Taylor began publicly criticizing local court watchers and citizens who had been critical of Judge Curvey.

Dr. Matthews presented campaign finance records she said showed Taylor received payments from numerous political candidates and officeholders in recent election cycles.

She specifically referenced Harris County Republican Party Chair Cindy Siegel, Harris County Democratic Party Chair Traci Gibson, State Rep. Ron Reynolds and Harris County judge candidate Orlando Brown while discussing campaign payments made to Taylor and questioning whether elected officials and candidates should continue hiring or paying him for political work.

Dr. Matthews presented what she described as text messages and allegations involving a claimed sexual assault from an unidentified woman. She stressed the allegations were claims made by the woman and had not been proven.

Dr. Matthews called on elected officials, candidates and political organizations to review their relationships with Taylor and reconsider providing him campaign-related payments in the future.

Houston Stringer has not independently verified the allegations made during the press conference, the authenticity of the alleged text messages, the status of any alleged settlement agreement, or the claims discussed regarding Taylor. No criminal charges related to the alleged sexual assault allegations were presented during the event.
