HOUSTON – Two people were injured after a Fourth of July fireworks dispute escalated into an exchange of gunfire early Sunday morning in southeast Houston.

Houston police responded to a shooting call around 1 a.m. in the 6800 block of Winton Street.
Officers found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower leg. She was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.
An adult man also suffered a gunshot wound to his foot. He transported himself to a nearby hospital and is also in stable condition.
According to Houston police, the incident began when neighbors were setting off fireworks in the area and were confronted by people a couple of houses away. A verbal altercation followed before firearms were pulled out and both parties exchanged gunfire.
Police said two people were struck during the shooting.
The suspects from both groups left the scene before officers arrived. No suspects are in custody, and no charges have been filed.
Investigators said it remains unclear whether the two victims were part of the same group or were from separate parties. The investigation is ongoing.
