HOUSTON, TX - A vehicle crash on the South Loop resulted in one fatality and one person injured early this morning. The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 7100 block of South Loop East. According to police, the vehicle was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control, causing the car to go off the road. The vehicle flipped multiple times before crashing into a metal fence on the feeder road. Houston Fire Department (HFD) personnel had to extricate the driver from the vehicle. The male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, while a female passenger was transported to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The accident occurred in the 15500 block of the Gulf Freeway just after 10 p.m. According to police, the vehicle that hit him fled the scene and they do not have a suspect description at this time. HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Police Department is investigating after a 16 year old was shot in a drive-by walking on the sidewalk in north Houston. The shooting took place Wednesday evening in the 11700 block of Airline. According to police, the suspects may have fled in a black sedan. The teen was transported to the hospital by private vehicle and is said to be in stable condition. HOUSTON, TX - Two Houston firefighters were transported to a local hospital after being electrocuted while extinguishing a fire in Houston's Fifth Ward. The roof was ventilated and a primary search was conducted. A power line that was attached to the building was arching and CenterPoint was notified to secure the power. HOUSTON, TX - Both the Rice University Police Department and the Houston Police Department are investigating a murder-suicide that took place in a dorm room Tuesday afternoon. https://youtu.be/wJUFYZwZ9mc According to Rice University President, Reginald DesRoches, a female student Andrea Rodriguez Avila in her junior year, was found deceased in her room at Jones College, a residence hall. A second victim, a male who is said not to be a student was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There were no signs of forced entry, and it is believed both Andrea and the suspect were in a dating relationship. HOUSTON, TX - A man decided to climb on an apartment complex roof Monday morning and refused to come down. It was captured on the Citizen app. The Houston Fire Department and the Houston Police Department were both called to the Somerset Apartments located on Tidwell around 10:30 a.m. After about an hour and a half of talking to first responders, the man finally came down on his own free will onto a balcony and entered an apartment residence. HOUSTON, TX - A man was shot and killed over $20 in front of a food truck. Three suspects are now on the run. https://youtu.be/Kv0TBc68Ykc The shooting occurred in the 6200 block of Chimney Rock around 9:30 p.m. According to police, the men in the parking lot described as African-American males were asking for $20 at a food truck. The victim stated that he will get them $20, went back to the apartments nearby and came back with a pistol. He then pointed the pistol at the suspects but did not pull the trigger. The suspects opened fire and shot him before fleeing on foot, headed west on Elm Street. Police do not have anyone in custody but one officer was able to identify one of the suspects. HOUSTON, TX - A firefighter was transported to the hospital after suffering heat exhaustion during an auto shop fire Friday night. https://youtu.be/2foEZaUb-nk The fire started around 3 a.m. in the 9200 block of Clarkcrest. According to the Houston Fire Department, a car inside the shop caught fire but it was extinguished fairly quickly. There were no other injuries.
