Man survives being struck by a freight train

HOUSTON - According to the Houston Police Department, a man was spotted shortly after 3 a.m. walking on railroad tracks near Hempstead Rd and 610. A conductor who was in a stopped train spotted the man cross in front of his train before witnessing the man being struck by an oncoming freight train. Once the train stopped, the conductor then checked on the man. The Houston Fire Department then carried him into the back of an ambulance and the man was transported to a nearby hospital. At this time, his condition remains unknown,

HOUSTON, Texas — A 23-year-old man was fatally shot at a large gathering on the evening of Friday in the 800 block of Rosewick, as reported by the Houston Police Department (HPD). The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. at a residence hosting 20-30 attendees, including children. According to HPD, the suspect, a man in his mid-20s, was allegedly under the influence of Xanax and was highly intoxicated at the gathering. Attempts by several attendees to persuade the intoxicated man to leave reportedly led to him becoming belligerent while awaiting his ride. Man breaking into vehicles shot by HCSO Deputy

HARRIS COUNTY - Sheriff Ed Gonzalez of the Harris County Sheriff's Office provided an update about a officer-involved shooting that took place at 9150 State Highway 6 North, near 290. The incident occurred after deputies were dispatched following at least two calls about suspicious individuals possibly breaking into cars at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, a deputy identified a male matching the reported description near a vehicle, along with a bag on top of the vehicle. The male was found to have a pistol on him, which was visible when the deputy approached. Fire at Northline Commons IHOP

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Fire Department was called out to investigate a fire at the IHOP located at 15 E Crosstimbers near I-45 at Northline Commons around midnight. According to the HFD, when firefighters arrived, they did not find anything at first until a firefighter noticed a little bit of smoke coming from one of the back corners of the restaurant’s roofline. A small fire was then believed to be in some concealed spaces on the inside of an exterior wall. While the IHOP was open at the time of the fire, there were no reports of injuries. The IHOP is currently shut down and will not be able to reopen until the Health Department comes and inspects. HFD Arson is investigating the fire.

JACINTO CITY, Texas — A shooting occurred early Saturday morning during a 21-year-old's birthday party on Muscatine Street, resulting in at least two fatalities. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the incident happened around 1 a.m., with approximately 50 attendees, including a band, present. Following the shooting, Jacinto City police responded, and the two victims were transported to a hospital where they were pronounced deceased. Motorcyclist dies after falling off bike while attempting to perform stunts

HOUSTON - A motorcycle rider is dead after he fell off his bike and was subsequently run over by a car in the 7100 block of Cullen Saturday night. According to witnesses Demarcus Evans was weaving in and out of traffic before he lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle. The driver of a gray Dodge Journey traveling southbound on Cullen was waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway and saw the motorcycle pass by in the northbound lanes without its rider. As the Dodge turned left, the vehicle struck the motorcyclist lying in the roadway. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Evans deceased at the scene. The female driver of the Dodge was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and later released.

HOUSTON - A man was transported to the hospital after being found in the parking lot of Club Aragon off of the southwest freeway Sunday morning around 1 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds in the abdomen. The man was transported to the hospital in serious condition by the Houston Fire Department. At this time, it is not clear what led up to the shooting. Police said a gray or tan sedan may have left the location shortly after the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the Houston Police Department's Major Assaults Division.

Houston Firefighters Rescue Dog from Late-Night House Fire in Southwest Houston

HOUSTON - A tragic house fire late Saturday night in southwest Houston resulted in the death of a family dog, according to the Houston Fire Department. Firefighters were dispatched to the residence located in the 6200 block of West Bend Street just before midnight. Upon arrival, fire crews successfully rescued one dog and were able to revive it. Unfortunately, another dog perished in the blaze. All family members present in the home at the time of the fire managed to escape without harm and were evaluated by EMS on the scene. The Houston Fire Department's Arson investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

Family files lawsuit after missing 8-year-old Aliyah Jaico found in swimming pool pipe in Northwest Houston

HOUSTON - The family of 8-year-old Aliyah who drowned at a Doubletree hotel Saturday night has already filed a lawsuit demanding at least one million dollars from the Hilton-branded hotel. Initially reported missing around 5:45 p.m., she was not found until 11:30 p.m. later that night when she was found inside a pipe that was connected to the lazy river-style pool. According to the lawsuit, “A team was then put together to drain the pool and video cameras were attached to 20-foot poles to inspect the pipes when her body was discovered wedged in the pipes of the malfunctioning pool equipment." The case is filed in Harris County District Court under Cause No. 202419020- 7.
