Fatal crash with vehicle fire shuts down IH-10 East Freeway at Waco

HOUSTON, TX – A major crash with a confirmed fatality has shut down all eastbound lanes of the IH-10 East Freeway at Waco Street. Houston Police and Houston Fire Department crews are on scene after a vehicle reportedly caught fire during the crash. Authorities confirmed at least one person is deceased. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and exit the freeway at Nance or Gregg to take Clinton Road east as an alternate route. More information will follow if it becomes available.

AFD clears smoke investigation at Fountainwood at Lake Houston

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – The Atascocita Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in a building at Fountainwood at Lake Houston on W. Lake Houston Parkway. All responding units have since cleared the scene, and the smoke investigation has been completed. There were no reports of injuries or fire damage.

Heater possibly to blame in a fire that broke out at a Houston home overnight

A fire was reported in the 6500 block of Ledbetter in southeast Houston just after 3 a.m. https://www.youtube.com/embed/JC_S-RS4Csg A man who lives in the house told us that after he arrived back from "Monster Jam" (which took place at NRG Stadium) he went to sleep and did not know the house was on fire until someone woke him up by yelling there was smoke. He said he didn't know what caused the fire and that it was an old home that needed work. However, he believes the fire may have originated from the heater since the fire appears to have started where the heater unit was inside the attic, or close to it. A fire broke out at the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen located at 9287 Richmond Ave in west Houston overnight. Reports of the fire came in around midnight on August 10, 2022. As the first firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported smoke coming from the roof. While Houston Firefighters appeared to have saved the restaurant from major damage on the outside, it is currently unknown how extensieve the damage is inside.
