PEARLAND, TX - The Pearland Police Department has successfully arrested and indicted five individuals for their involvement in organized criminal activity related to "jugging" offenses, following investigations by the department's Special Investigations Unit. The arrests address a series of incidents reported in October and November 2023, where primarily elderly individuals were targeted after withdrawing cash from banks within Pearland city limits. These victims were subsequently followed and either robbed or had their vehicles burglarized to steal the withdrawn cash. Suspects Arrested for Illuminating a Texas DPS Aircraft Pilot with a Laser

On February 1, 2024, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office were dispatched to the 11300 block of Lodge Run Lane in response to a report from a Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Pilot. The pilot reported the aircraft being targeted with a laser. Upon arrival, deputies detained two male suspects, identified as Leonel Vasquez and Artemio Gonzales. Gonzales was discovered to have an active warrant for Tampering with Government Record. Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Leonel Vasquez was charged with Illumination of Aircraft by Intense Light, while Artemio Gonzales faced charges based on the outstanding warrant. As of now, their bonds and court dates have not been established.

Houston Man Sentenced to 60 Years for Continuous Sexual Assault of Children

HOUSTON, TX (January 31, 2024) A 50-year-old Houston man, Daniel A. Reyes-Gomez, has been sentenced to a 60-year prison term without the possibility of parole for the continuous sexual assault of two girls, ages 7 and 12, beginning in 2020. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg emphasized the importance of trials in such cases to ensure justice for the young victims. Reyes-Gomez was convicted by a Harris County jury and chose to have his punishment determined by a judge, who imposed the sentence on Thursday. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Danielle Oxford and Rachel Barlow, specializing in Crimes Against Children and Trafficking/Exploitation, respectively. Under Texas law, Reyes-Gomez is required to serve the full duration of his sentence.
