A driver in NW Houston caused a major fire at a commercial roofing supply and distribution company after she was speeding down Mitchelldale St, just off of Antonie and US 290, and flipped her vehicle, causing it to catch on fire. The accident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on July 11, 2022. Within minutes, the fire spread from her vehicle to supplies that were being stored in the parking lot of Commercial Distribution Specialists and staged for deliveries in the morning. These products, mostly made out of styrofoam, caught on fire and the fire spread quickly throughout the lot. The driver we are told somehow walked away without any major injuries. The Houston Police Department along with the Houston Fire Department responded to a report of someone firing into the water (Greens Bayou) in the 13100 block of Northborough Dr, and that someone may have been shot around 10 p.m. on July 11, 2022. The shooting occurred in the Greenspoint area of Houston, TX. When the first responders arrived, they found a truck inside Greens Bayou that had been left running. Firefighters along with the Houston Police Department searched inside the vehicle and went up and down the bayou looking for victims. They did not find any. Harris County, TX - A woman was arrested in Harris County after a warrant was issued for her arrest and deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office conducted a raid at her office on JFK Boulevard, near Bush Intercontinental Airport for taking part in a scheme to defraud financial institutions of more than $3.3 million dollars. According to the court documents, filed in Harris County District Court, Roekeicha Lashay Brisby of "Rose Credit Repair", would charge customers between $100 and $200 a month to fix their credit. Below, you will find a few stories we came across last night and captured on camera. - In NW Harris County, an alleged shoplifter grabbed an officer's taser during a fight during the suspect's arrest around 6:30 p.m. on July 8, 2022. - At 12:05 a.m., (now July 9, 2022), first responders were dispatched to the 5800 block of Neches, (intersection of Kelley @ 59, just north of downtown, Houston) to a motorcycle rider that took a nasty fall. According to Sgt. Jason Brown during a press briefing, the incident started around 6:30 p.m., at the Dollar General located at 2004 W FM 1960 in Houston. Brown states the employees called the police after the man was caught shoplifting and pushing a manager. Deputies responded to the call and a Harris County Seargent, and a 15-year veteran with the department spotted him just south of the Dollar General. At that point, the Seargent tried to stop the suspect but he fled on foot and made it about 100 yards before the officer caught up to him. Once the officer. caught up to the suspect, a fight ensued. Hobby Airport, in South Houston, was placed on lockdown after a TSA dog that was on a routine patrol alerted authorities to a piece of luggage according to Megan Howard, the Tactical Operations Division Commander for the Houston Police Department in a press statement. The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022. According to Commander Howard, TSA followed protocols and alerted the Houston Police Department which then sent out the bomb squad to investigate. Houston Airport was also notified and worked to block off the area where the piece of luggage was while redirecting passengers to another part of the airport in order to reroute passengers. Rocky Mountain Gun Owners (RMGO), a group of far-right gun owners decided to sue the town of Colorado and filed a complaint to block bans on assault weapons and to protect their right to carry firearms in public in federal court on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Colorado passed a law in 2021 after a deadly shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, CO, to give more power to local governments for gun regulation. The town Superior used this law to hold a vote to ban all assault weapons in June of 2022 through a city ordinance. The ordinance passed and went into effect on July 1, 2022. RMGO claims that it conflicts with their Second Amended rights to bear arms in public. The former Minneapolis cop who killed George Floyd has now received an additional 21-year sentence in federal court. This is in addition to charges of manslaughter and murder Chauvin was convicted last June and will be served separately. The plea agreement called for Chauvin to receive a sentence of 20 to 25 years for the killing of Floyd. Chauvin killed Floyd after he used his knee to pin him to the pavement in front of a Minneapolis corner store for at least eight minutes and forty-six seconds as Floyd pleaded that he could not breathe and eventually lost consciousness.  A man's body was found off an entrance to IH-45 in the 2000 block of Cullen on Wednesday afternoon, just across the freeway from the University of Houston, just east of Downtown Houston. Houston Police, during a press briefing, stated the man's body was found by a Houston Fire Department apparatus as it was returning to the station after a call. Firefighters stopped to check on the man and determined that he was already deceased. The firefighters reported their findings to the Houston Police Department at which point a homicide investigation began. The man, who has not been identified was found by the entrance ramp.
