Wrong-way driver from Texas arrested for DUI and drug possession in New Jersey

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A 32-year-old man from Houston, Texas, was arrested and charged after driving the wrong way on Route 130 early Sunday morning, causing a head-on collision. According to South Brunswick Police, the crash occurred around 2:05 a.m. near Route 130 and Route 32. Officers arrived to find a silver Kia Forte with severe front-end damage disabled in the northbound lanes. The driver, identified as Gorge Placencia, had reportedly turned the wrong way out of the Traveler’s Inn parking lot and was driving south in the northbound lanes. SIMI VALLEY, CA – The Simi Valley Police Department arrested an Acton woman accused of stabbing her sister in the neck during a violent assault inside a residence. According to police, officers responded after receiving a report that a woman had been stabbed in the neck with scissors. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from a serious neck wound and rendered medical aid. Investigators later determined that the suspect, identified as Randy Mellin of Acton, allegedly attacked her sister without provocation while receiving a haircut, breaking a wine glass and stabbing the victim in the neck with the broken glass. DETROIT, MI – The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit upheld the 15-year federal prison sentence of Darese Deandre Haile, who carjacked four Lyft drivers during a series of violent armed robberies across Michigan. According to court records, Haile and an unidentified accomplice targeted Lyft drivers between May and late 2022. In each case, the assailants brandished firearms, ordered the drivers out of their vehicles, and forced them to remove their clothing before fleeing with their cars and belongings. UNION CITY, CA – The Union City Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision that occurred at the intersection of Decoto Road and Royal Ann Drive. According to police, officers responded around 6:26 a.m. and found a 55-year-old male pedestrian who had been struck while crossing Decoto Road. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. WILMINGTON, DE – Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on July 21 in the 700 block of North Franklin Street. Officers with the Uniformed Services Division responded to the area around 10:02 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located a 50-year-old victim, identified as Donnell Seeney, who was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
