Dr. Matthews tours Houston apartment complex after families report sewage, mold and pest problems
HOUSTON — Dr. Matthews toured Aqua Bella on MLK in southeast Houston after families reported sewage backups, suspected mold, pest infestations and other maintenance problems.

Residents showed Dr. Matthews standing wastewater, damaged walls, plumbing problems and areas they described as containing mold. Families also reported rats, roaches, flies, maggots, broken windows, inconsistent hot water and extended periods without working air conditioning.
One resident with disabilities said the toilet takes one to two days to drain after it is used. The resident also reported sewage backing up through the bathtub, preventing residents from bathing normally.
