The shooting occurred at the corner of Harwin and Fondren at a Shell gas station parking lot. According to the Houston Police Department, a white Toyota pulled into the parking lot with four occupants when two additional males approached and got into the vehicle. Police said an incident occurred inside the vehicle, leading to gunfire among the individuals. HOUSTON, TX - A Harris County Sheriff patrol deputy was shot in the abdomen during a drive-by shooting at a home in north Houston earlier this morning. https://youtu.be/X6wFpL1pAl4 According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the scene and found the deputy inside the home, lying in his bed. Family members, including children, were also inside at the time of the shooting. The sheriff's office says the deputy was asleep at the time of the shooting and that this appears to be a random act of violence, and the deputy is currently undergoing surgery. A Hispanic family was leaving their apartment and loading into their vehicle when their one-year-old, almost two-year-old boy slipped away from his mother and ran into the roadway of the parking lot. According to police, a woman in her 40s was inside a Ford Expedition with two dogs while parked on the tracks for unknown reasons. A Union Pacific freight train then struck the vehicle. The woman was transported to a hospital in stable condition, the two dogs were taken to a shelter, and the train crew was not injured. The scene was cleared shortly after 1 a.m.
